A live interview from Palestine with prisoner advocate and activist, Sahar Abdo, who gave an update on the ongoing hunger strike by Palestinian political detainees. Ms. Abdo, herself a former political prisoner, explained how the strike had started, its demands and talked about the deteriorating health situation of some of the prisoners as the strike goes into its second week. There was also discussion of the role of the US government and the sentiment of Palestinians both towards the detainees and the hypocrisy of many Western governments. Ms. Abdo concluded by calling on people to do everything they could to help save the lives of the prisoners, especially contacting the ICRC and government officials.
