Prof. Abdelhamid Siyam on Bahrain and the U.S. Role in the Region

This week, Voice of Palestine talks with Dr. Abdelhamid Siyam, a professor at the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies in Rutgers University. Prof. Siyam, who also worked for the United Nations for 25 years, joins us again to talk about U.S. policies in the region, the movement for democracy in Bahrain and the role of the Arab Gulf regimes in trying to suppress such movements.

Our final piece of music is by Lebanese singer Julia Boutros, We are the Uprising and the Anger. We dedicate it to all the struggling Arab peoples confronting imperial tyranny and dictatorships.

Khaled Barakat on Global Week of Action to Free Ahmad Saadat

This week Voice of Palestine interviews Khaled Barakat, a Palestinian activist, journalist and writer based in Vancouver. Khaled talks with us about the Global Week of Action to Free Ahmad Saadat and the situation of Palestinian political prisoners in general.

Our final piece of music is by Palestinian American singer George Kurmoz entitled “A Letter from Prison”, based on a poem by Palestinian poet Samih al-Qasim. We dedicate it to all those Palestinian political prisoners and their families, who have lost so much of their lives and memories to the Israeli prison system.

Kevin Neish on Gaza and the Egyptian-Israeli Siege

This week Voice of Palestine talks with Kevin Neish, the Victoria based human rights activist who just returned from an extended stay in Gaza. In this two-part interview, Kevin, a Mavi Marmara survivor, updates us on the dire situation in Gaza, how the people there are coping, and how ISM Gaza is managing. He also details the impact of the situation in Egypt on Gazans, both on the Rafah border crossing and the implications of the anti-Palestinian sentiment fomented by the military junta.

Our final piece of music is by Egyptian poet Ahmed Fouad Njem, sung by the late legendary Sheik Imam, entitled I went to Al-al’ah Prison (انا رحت القلعة وشفت ياسين), a notorious Egyptian prison where both of these artists were incarcerated. We dedicate it to the recently (and finally) released John Greyson and Tarek Loubani, and all those political prisoners still held in both Egyptian and Israeli jails.

Dania Majid on Toronto Palestine Film Festival

This week Voice of Palestine talks with Dania Majid about the Toronto Palestine Film Festival (TPFF). Dania, who is also president of the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association, discusses the 2013 program for the film festival and its history, and also updates us on the condition of John Greyson (a TPFF board member) and Tarek Loubani being held in an Egyptian prison without charge for over a month now.
Our final piece of music is by Jewish American folksinger David Rovics, The Key, and we dedicate it to all those Palestinian parents who passed away without seeing their homeland, due to the continued and heartless US/Israeli policies.

This week Voice of Palestine talks with Dr. Abdelhamid Siyam, a professor at the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies in Rutgers University. Prof. Siyam, who also worked for the United Nations for 25 years, joins us as part of our mini-series on the Oslo Accords: 20 Years After, and presents a coomprehensive critique of how and where the Oslo Accords failed the Palestinian people.

Mazin Qumsiyeh on Oslo Accords: 20 Years After

This week Voice of Palestine talks live with Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh from Palestine, an author, activist and educator at Bethlehem and Birzeit Universities. Mazin discusses the Oslo Accords: 20 years after, the current Palestinian-Israeli “negotiations”, as well as the crisis in Syria.

The final piece of music is the well known song Unadikum (I Call Upon You), with lyrics by the late Palestinian poet Tawfiq Zayyad. This version is sung by a childrens choir during a concert for Gaza and we dedicate it to the Palestinian and Arab people in their struggle against Western-led interventions and domination.

Shamika Norman and Sandra Turner on IFPB delegation
This week Voice of Palestine talks with Shamika Norman from Georgia and Sandra Turner from New York, both members of the most recent U.S. Inter Faith Peace Builders (IFPB) delegation to Palestine/Israel. They update us on their experiences and impressions during their visit, as well as discussing what motivated them to join the delegation.
Our final music is by Palestinian singer Manal abdo entitled Moment of Truth – Kairos Palestine, and we dedicate it to all people of good faith and conscience who refuse to be silenced and continue to fight for peace with justice.

Ehab Lotayef on Egypt, Palestine and the Gaza’s Ark

This week Voice of Palestine talks with Ehab Lotayef, an Egyptian Canadian activist and poet from Montreal. Ehab discusses the situation in Egypt including the detention of the two Canadians by the Egyptian military, as well as updating us on the progress of the Gaza’s Ark project. He concludes the segment with a rendition of his new poem “State of Emergency” in both Arabic and English.

Our final music is by the late Egyptian singer Sheik Imam, Egypt Rise Up, and it was dedicated to the Arab people as they struggle against all the U.S.-led conspiracies to manipulate and oppress them and their resources.
